WARRINGTON Collegiate students who are studying Motor Vehicle are now working with the latest in engine technology thanks to the kind donation from Vauxhall.

The Motor Vehicle workshop at Warrington Collegiate now has two fantastic engines from Vauxhall, which will allow students to keep working on the latest industry technology.

Both engines will help students to develop the knowledge and skills to successfully rebuild, diagnose and rectify many engine faults.

A team of Level 1 Apprenticeships, together with Stephen Joyce, Curriculum Leader for Motor Vehicle at Warrington Collegiate, visited Lookers Vauxhall garage on Winwick Road, Warrington to meet Regional Parts Manager, Andy Carr and pick up the fantastic pieces of kit for the Motor Vehicle students.

Curriculum Leader, Stephen Joyce comments, “Both the engines are fantastic and it’s great to be able to get students training on the brand new kit. Vauxhall has been extremely generous and previously donated other motor parts including, ten gear boxes back in March and not forgetting a fully equipped car which is allowing learners to develop valuable skills.

“Vauxhall have chosen to support education where they can.  Our dealerships have been amazing when supporting their local universities and colleges.  Lookers Vauxhall have been a solid partner with Warrington Collegiate not only with donations but also with employment for young people.  It is a Win Win for all concerned.” said Cherie Denton Vauxhall’s Community Coordinator.

Curriculum Director for Motor Vehicle at Warrington Collegiate, Pete Jones adds, “As one of the largest training providers of post-16 education in the Warrington area it is only natural that we would want to have the very best training work shop for our staff and students. Some of the technology we have is considered to be at least three years ahead of its time. We offer a 21st century learning environment for our students and we want to work with them to ensure that our students leave here with both excellent qualifications and the industry experience to match. We look forward to continuing and developing our relationship with Vauxhall and are optimistic for what the future holds.”

Students come to Warrington Collegiate from over 30 schools around the area to study motor vehicle maintenance and repair, in the state of the art facilities that include a tyre bay, engine strip down area and a diagnostic area which includes all the latest diagnostic equipment including air conditioning equipment.

The state of the art facilities and equipment together with high quality teaching from industry experienced tutors enable students to progress onto employment in the motor industry with top class dealerships such as Citroen, Hyundai and Mercedes.
