Parents – urged to use real nappies!

REAL Nappy Week takes place from April 20 to 26 –  and Warrington Borough Council is urging parents to discover the benefits of the modern nappy.
Unlike the hassle of using old-style cotton nappies, modern cotton nappies are much easier to use.
They are made of soft comfortable fabrics, are easy to fasten, easy to wash and are naturally absorbent. Using cotton nappies can save over £500 compared to disposable nappies.
They are also better for the environment. A baby in disposables will need about 4,000 nappies until they are potty trained, whereas babies using real nappies will use just 18 cotton nappies on average during this time.
David Boyer, the council’s assistant director for transport and environment said: “Cotton nappies are now convenient and reliable and a common sense alternative to disposable nappies for many reasons.
“Even If you just choose to use real nappies some of the time, it will have a significant effect on the volume of waste you throw away each week. We urge you to give them a try.”
The council has a cotton nappy incentive where parents can receive a discount of up to £30 towards the cost of real nappies.
