Have a say on the future of the NHS

HEALTH chiefs in Warrington are embarking on a major consultation exercise on the future of local NHS services.
Residents across the borough are being invited to have their say on the future of local health and social care services through a series of drop-in events being held by the town’s health leaders this month.
Eight engagement sessions will be taking place across the area from Monday next week, November 25, through to Saturday November 30 at different locations and times each day including Birchwood, Woolston, Appleton, Orford and the town centre.
The events will give local people the opportunity share their ideas and opinions with those responsible for planning and buying health and social care services for the population of Warrington.
Dr Andy Davies, (pictured) local GP and chairman of Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “We are calling on patients and the public to join in an open and honest debate about the future shape of the NHS so we can plan how best to deliver services, now and in the years ahead.
“Many challenges lie ahead for the NHS due to factors including people living much longer and a significant rise in the number of patients developing long-term health conditions such as heart disease and diabetes.
“If the NHS is to survive another 65 years and continue to be a high-quality yet free at the point of use health service, then it must change.”
Paul Steele, the CCG engagement, experience and communications lead, said: “We are committed to listening to our patients’ views and won’t make any major decisions without the support of our local population.
“I would deeply encourage anyone who has an interest in the NHS, whether that be mental health services, hospitals, care homes, midwifery or another health or social care service to attend one of our drop-in events and have their say. Our friendly team are here to listen so please do drop by and have a chat with us.”
Feedback from the sessions will help to inform a health conference to be organised and hosted by Warrington CCG early next year, feeding into NHS England’s “Call to Action” national consultation.
Details of all the events are available on the CCG’s website www.warringtonccg.nhs.uk
