Hat trick of infrastructure projects

A “HAT trick” of infrastructure developments are under way in the Poulton North area of Warrington.
The “Pink Bridge” that crosses Woolston Grange Avenue, Longbarn, has been dismantled overnight..
Resurfacing work is going on in Cinnamon Lane and is due to be completed by the first week in November.
New internet cables are being connected to the Fearnhead Community Centre.
Local councillor Geoff Settle has been keeping an eye on all three projects and says while there have been a few issues these have been talked through and resolved or compromises reached.
Cllr Settle said: “Borough council officers have kept councillors, residents and resident’s associations fully informed and involved. This has included through letters to resident’s homes, press
releases, consultations and site visits.
“Maps have been published about traffic diversions during the Cinnamon Lane re-surfacing work. In the case of the new internet connections all resident’s groups that use the Fearnhead Centre have been consulted and informed.
“Cinnamon Lane looks like a construction site at the moment with the road rollers, tarmacadam machines, large lorries etc, working away. It’sa young engineer’s dream.
“Hopefully people feel that they have been kept informed and consulted,
much more so than in the past.
“I believe things have gone well. When issues have arisen
residents have contacted us and we have been able to get the issue resolved successfully. If this is not the case then as councillors we need to know so that we can get to the bottom of the
problem or escalate it to the chiefs.”

  1. I’d just like to thank the residents of Fearnhead for their patience and support with the re-surfacing work on Cinnamon Lane, Longbarn residents during Monday night when the bridge was removed and shoppers and community centre users at Fearnhead Cross Shops whilst the pavement was dug up for the new cables.

The bulk of the work has now been completed in all 3 projects.

Once the dropped kerbs have been re-aligned on Cinnamon Lane there is just the final surface to be laid down. This should be by the end of this week ? I for one am looking forward to a smooth ride on the No. 23 bus as well as NOT being splashed by water from the pools that used to build up in the many potholes. But I know most people are looking forward to missing the chicane course that was Cinnamon Lane.

The pavement blocks have been replaced outside the community centre, so it’s onto the inside for connection and beyond.

Finally the bridge came down overnight and work to connect Blackburne Close to the new Toucan Crossing on Woolston Grange Avenue will take place in December.
