Housing trust evicts two tenants

WARRINGTON’S Golden Gates Housing Trust has evicted two tenants – one for repeated anti-social behaviour and the other for non-payment of rent and illegal use of property.
The Trust took both cases to court to obtain a warrant for possession of the properties.
A woman was evicted from Langton Green at Woolston following a number of complaints of anti-social behaviour from nearby residents.
The complaints related to repeated noise nuisance from the tenant and visitors to the property, including loud music, shouting and swearing.
Bailiffs and Trust officers attended the property to regain possession.
A GGHT spokesperson said: “We recognise the negative impact that anti social behaviour can have on the lives of our tenants and other local residents and are committed to working with our partners, including Cheshire Police, to tackle the perpetrators.
“We are confident that this successful legal action will reduce anti-social behaviour in the local area and it should also send out a strong warning to others that such behaviour will not be tolerated and that GGHT will take positive action to protect our tenants and residents.”
The second eviction involved a property in Cabul Close, Orford.
In March 2010 Warrington County Court granted a Suspended Possession Order against the tenant because of rent arrears.
In April 2011, police found a cannabis farm in the property and the tenant was charged with producing cannabis and dishonestly using electricity.
He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment suspended for two years, 200 hours of unpaid work and a two year supervision order.
Follow the conviction the Trust made a successful application to the court for the possession of its property.
The court took into account the tenant’s rent history along with the convictions and granted possession to the Trust.
The GGHT spokesperson said: “Our income management officers worked tirelessly with the tenant to try and assist him in reducing his rent arrears, including providing budgeting advice and support.
“However, after Cheshire Police discovered the dangerous condition of his electricity supply and the cannabis farm at his address, we had to re-think our position and go back to the court and ask for possession of our property.”
