A “GREEN Deal” in Warrington has secured £79,750 from the Government to make people more aware of cutting energy bills in their homes.
The campaign, launched yesterday (Monday), aims to save energy and save people money and is part of a national initiative.
It introduces a new way to pay for energy-saving home improvements, and enables residents to pay for any improvements over time on their electricity bill.
The council will use the new funding to carry out Green Deal energy efficiency assessments to see where energy savings can be made in the home, and work with Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) to demonstrate the benefits of energy efficiency.
Cllr David Keane, (Pictured) executive board member for environment and public protection, said: “At a time when energy bills continue to increase, this exciting project will raise awareness on what you can do to improve your home and save on your energy bill.
“Under the Green Deal you can have energy efficiency works carried out with these costs paid from the savings made on your energy bill.”
The project is a partnership between the council, GGHT, local community group Low Carbon Lymm and Energy Projects Plus.
