Social care facing challenges

THE challenges facing adult social care in Warrington are outlined in a report published by the borough council.
The report, “Your care and support in Warrington 2011/12,” outlines the priorities and achievements of the services during the past year.
It contains real life examples from local people, information about local services and advice on keeping safe at home. It also offers help on health and wellbeing, and for older people information on finding an accredited financial adviser.
Cllr Pat Wright (pictured), the council’s executive member for health, wellbeing and adult services, said: “The future of adult social care is still at the centre of much national debate as we explore how to meet future demand through a system that is fair and affordable. “
The booklet explains how the council has dealt with changes, how it will work with partners and how it manages the care and support services.
Cllr Wright said: “All of us, whether personally, or as a carer or a family member, will require adult social care support at some stage in our lives.
“This is a challenging time for us however we are committed to providing the right range of quality services which both support and protect. Our local account is one way of demonstrating to our users, carers and the general public how we do this in Warrington.”
The booklet can be read at www.warrington.gov.uk/localaccount or at the library, neighbourhood hub or at Contact Warrington.
