Accountancy success at Collegiate

ACCOUNTANCY apprentices at Warrington Collegiate have gained success in a series of competitions this year.
This includes recognition in the prestigious WorldSkills International Competition.
In November all the past medal winners from the previous five years from the Level 3 competitions were invited to compete in Birmingham.
Rachel Parsley (pictured left) won highly commended and Emma Ratcliffe (pictured right) won the silver medal.
Emma said: “You have to be really focussed and make quick decisions with tight deadlines and no margin for error. I beat many of the students who I’ve been up against in previous competitions, some of whom had been placed higher than me.”
Amanda Garrett, lecturer in Business, Accountancy and IT, said: “This is an outstanding result. Emma and Rachel have demonstrated the highest possible level of achievement.”
The two women and fellow apprentice Andrew Whittle won the North West heats of Worldskills UK Accounting Technician competition in April, and won third place in the national final in May.
A team from the college also took regional third place. They were Matt Evans, Steven Dagnall and Will Smith.
