Diver Beccy comes back home

BECCY Redford has just returned to live and work in Lymm after four years working overseas as a scuba diving instructor.
It’s a case of going back where she started, as Beccy originally learned to scuba dive in the pool at Lymm Leisure Centre.
She became so taken with the sport and the fascination of the world underwater that she gave up her job to travel and devote herself full time to diving. Initially she went to Utila in Honduras where she qualified as a scuba diving instructor and then spent nine months there working as an instructor.
Following this she moved on to Umkomaas, just outside Durban, South Africa, where she worked for three years, progressing from being a scuba diving instructor to be manager of a dive centre and dive lodge.
Most of the diving there was on the Aliwal Shoals which are renowned as one of the best places in the world to go diving with sharks.
During her time in Umkomaas, Beccy saw eight different species of shark including one memorable dive where she saw approximately 50 Oceanic Blacktip sharks, seven Tiger sharks and a Bull shark – all potentially dangerous but safe if the instructions from the local experienced dive guides are followed closely.
Eventually the pull of family back in England was too much for her and she has returned to the UK where she is now working where it all started.
