Round-the-clock service yard

PLANNING bosses at Warrington have agreed to allow ASDA to use a service yard at their Westbrook store round-the-clock.
The company was granted planning consent for a store extension and alterations to the service yard earlier this year.
But a condition was imposed banning the use of the yard between 6am and 11pm to prevent noise and disturbance to nearby residents.
The company applied for the condition to be removed and members of the borough council’s planning committee agreed.
Two residents objected on the grounds of increased noise nuisance, but planning officers said the nearest house was more than 200 metres away and was unlikely to be significantly affected.
In addition, the condition would intensify deliveries during a shorter period, potentially worsening traffic conditions.

  1. They use the service yard between 11PM and 6AM anyway.. along with HGV deliveries. As usual the council turns a blind eye to the retail giants.

ASDA says jump.. the council says how high?

    Sod the rate payers eh?

  2. I live in the estate opposite ASDA and don’t recall seeing and leaflets telling us about this….. I don’t recall our inactive Councillors warning us or advising us of the propsed changes….. Mind You, when you look at the track record of David Earl ( The one responsible for the traffic lights at Westbrook…. remember that at the next election chaps!!) and some Labour woman who is so inconspicuous by her absence, I had to look on the councils website to find out who she was! Part of the problem is the mixed up councillor issues we have here in Westbrook. Asda is in the westbrook Parish, whereas the other side of the road where all the houses are is in Great Sankey parish and the only time we see any of the parish councillors from Sankey is when they are canvassing and supporting that serial constiuency deserter; Jo grotty
