Heaviest snow of the winter

2

WARRINGTON awoke today to its heaviest snowfall so far this winter with up to four inches falling in some parts of the borough.
In fact, the bulk of the snow fell before 10pm last night but a small amount fell in the early hours.
There were no early reports of serious accidents from emergency services. Most main routes appeared to have been treated and were clear of snow. But there reports that the A49 at Stockton Heath was closed due to deep snow for a while last night.
Side roads and footpaths were treacherous in many areas.
The advice from police was not to drive unless it was absolutely necessary.
Motorways near Warrington were clear and traffic moving well, according to motoring organisations.
The Met Office forecast was for more light snow this morning but a cold, but sunny afternoon.
No further snow is forecast for the next few days, although tomorrow (Sunday) could start foggy.
The snow could be set to return later in the week. The Met Office is predicting light snow in the Warrington area on Tuesday.
But on Wednesday, a bright sunny day is forecast.
However, the weather will remain cold, with sharp frosts likely at night.
Pictures show the snow scenes in the Appleton area of Warrington late last night when the heaviest snowfall took place creating a picture post card setting, and at Lymm, early this morning in areas where human activity had not started to turn it all to slush.

  1. With a name like mine, I have no plans to live up to it! Just wish I fit enough to go out and play with the dog and our Grandaughter on the park. Not played in the snow for years, making snow angels ( pass time of my friend Rachel LOL).

Stay safe out there and have lots of fun. Hugs to all xx
