ONLY minutes after drawing money from a cashpoint machine at Warrington, a man was robbed as he sat in his car.
Police today issued an appeal for witnesses of the robbery in Poplars Avenue, Orford, near to the junction with Greenwood Crescent.
The victim, a 31-year-old local man, withdrew the money from the machine at the Lloyds TSB bank in Poplars Avenue at about 1pm on Monday, November 1.
He walked to his car, and drove a short distance up Poplars Avenue, before parking to have a cigarette.
A man appeared at the open driver’s side window and the victim felt a sharp hard implement against his neck. The offender demanded his money and the victim handed over the cash he had just withdrawn, which he had placed on the passenger seat of his car. The offender then left.
The victim was not injured, but was shaken. He did not see any weapon.
Police say the offender was in his late teens or early twenties. He was wearing a black or navy blue hoody, with the hood up, and either a blue or black scarf covering his face so that only his eyes were shown.
He also wore black or blue tracksuit bottoms with white pinstripes down either side, and wore his tracksuit bottoms tucked into his socks. Both his socks and trainers were dark coloured.
Anyone who witnessed the offence, or who has any information, is asked to call Detective Constable Pam Hopkins at Warrington CID on 0845 458 0000.
Alternatively, information can be left anonymously on the Crimestoppers hotline 0800 555 111.
