WARRINGTON Wolves kept up their hopes of finishing in Super League’s top two with a 34-24 win over Huddersfield.
The rejuvenated were on a four-match winning run that had lifted them off the bottom of the table, and they opened the scoring through Sam Halsall.
But Warrington hit back with four tries in 12 minutes from Danny Walker, James Bentley, Sam Powell and George Williams to lead 22-4 at half-time.
Huddersfield maintained their interest in the contest with Halsall’s second, before Arron Lindop crossed for Warrington’s fifth try.
A quickfire double from Sam Hewitt and former Wolves centre Connor Wrench got the Giants back in the game, before Matty Ashton’s try with nine minutes left gave Warrington breathing space.
Jacob Gagai scored late on but Warrington won to secure their play-off place.
They currently sit third, two points behind the top two, and four points clear of the teams behind them.
