Temporary home for rough sleepers

WARRINGTON Borough Council is to contribute up to £16,000 towards the cost of running of a temporary emergency accommodation project for rough sleepers.
The project will open during November and be run by the “room at the inn” group, made up of volunteers from the community and faith sector and borough councillors.
Coun Roy Smith, the council’s executive member for health and well being said: “This money will enable emergency bed-and-breakfast accommodation to be provided while a consultation is carried out with churches, voluntary groups and statutory agencies to seek permanent solutions to this problem.”
A review of rough-sleeper provision has been carried out by the supporting people team, made up of officers from the council, NHS Warrington and the National Offender Management Service. Preparation work for the service is already under way.
