Town aim to bounce back

WARRINGTON Town return to league action tomorrow, Saturday, when they

travel to Wakefield looking to bounce back from last Tuesday’s disappointing

7-1 defeat at AFC Fylde in the President’s Cup.
Manager Joey Dunn says he has had a good chat with his squad of players and having had chance to dwell on the club’s heaviest defeat of the season, knows where things went wrong.
“I had a few harsh words with them at half time but having had chance to reflect on the defeat I know exactly what went wrong and we will be looking to put things right.
“I am looking for a good reaction at Wakefield.
“On Tuesday night we didn’t actually play that badly and up to 28 minutes were probably the better team.
“They just hit three wonder goals which on another night could have flown over the bar or been saved by the keeper. From that moment we were always chasing the game.
“While we have no complaints with the result there is no way Fylde were six goals better than us – I think they only had nine or 10 shots all night but seven of them went in!”
Joey paid tribute to the Warrington Town fans who continued to show their support despite the heavy defeat and to skipper Mike Tomlinson (Pictured with leading scorer Tony Evans) , who went behind the goals and shook the hand of every supporter while apologising for the performance.
“Our supporters are amazing and we will be showing our appreciation at Wakefield as we know we will be travelling in numbers.
“The loyal support means a lot to the club and the players and they provide our 12th man.”
meanwhile leading scorer Tony Evans, who returned from injury on Tuesday has suffered no adverse reaction and is expected to start at Wakefield.
With only one defeat in the league all season, Warrington will be looking to get back in the play-off hunt at Wakefield and again on Tuesday night when they travel to Prescot Cables.
