Man robbed and beaten up

POLICE at Warrington have appealed for witnesses to a street robbery in which a man was punched, knocked to the ground and repeatedly kicked.
The victim was a 24-year-old Warrington man who was walking home along Chester Road after a night out in the town centre.
He was talking on his mobile phone at the time.
He glanced behind and saw three men about 20 yards behind and assumed they were also making their way home.
But as he drew level with a point opposite the bus stop on Brian Bevan Island was suddenly punched from behind and knocked to the ground.
As he lay on the ground he was kicked to the face, head and body and his attackers stole his phone before running off.
The incident took place at about 3.15am on Sunday (October 10).
As a result of the attack, the victim suffered pain and soreness to his face and body, requiring hospital attention.
One of the offenders was in his early 20s, slim in build, and approximately 5 ft 8 inches tall. He had light coloured styled hair.
He was wearing a red and white checked, lumberjack style shirt and light blue jeans.
A second offender had close cropped hair and was wearing a black t-shirt.
Police enquiries resulted in a third man being arrested nearby. He is 17 and was subsequently released on police bail until pending further enquiries.
