Rugby attack man freed on bail

A MAN arrested in connection with an assault on a 32-year-old Rugby League fan at Warrington on Sunday, September 26 has been released on police bail..
Police said today that the 26-year-old man from Pontefract, Yorkshire, who was arrested on suspicion of assault and violent disorder at the Halliwell Jones Stadium after the Halifax v Featherstone Rovers National League One grand final,
had been bailed until December 1 pending further investigations.
The victim of the attack, David Singer, from Halifax is still critically ill and in a coma in hospital at Liverpool. Members of his family are at his bedside.
He suffered severe head injuries in the incident.
The arrest of the 26-year-old followed repeated appeals for information and a major press conference in Yorkshire.
An appeal was made at the Super League grand final at Old Trafford last Saturday and police estimated it was seen by more than one million RL supporters at the ground and on television.
