Plans for vintage car store

PLANNING chiefs have given a seal of approval for a storage building on a 14-acre estate at Lymm which houses a vintage car collection – and an army tank.
The development, in Crouchley Lane, had angered neighbours because it was built in advance of receiving planning consent.
They claimed this showed a disregard for them and for planning law.
But applicant Rod Bond said the building had replaced a slightly smaller one which it would have been unviable to restore.
In addition to a collection of vintage cars and the military tank, it would used for kennels, an aviary, storage and replacement living accommodation for a security guard and his family.
The original building was of 536 sq metres but was six metres high compared with the new one which will be 5.3 metres.
Officers recommended the scheme be approved because it was in accord with council policies – and members of the borough council’s planning sub-committee agreed that had the plan been submitted in advance of construction it would have been approved.
