Town team up with Moore

WARRINGTON Town have teamed up with locally based Moore United to be a “feeder club” to help generate home grown players for the future, while the club’s junior set up has taken over Beechfields to further expand the Warrington Town brand.
The move to team up with the well respected Moore club follows the decision to disband Town’s reserve team.
Town manager Joey Dunn (pictured left) said: “I am looking forward to the alliance as it gives us the opportunity to provide a feeder through for our first team for the Warrington based players.
“It is a great option for our squad of players to play locally with a really well respected local side, which is run by football people who want to see their club progress as a consequence.
“There are plans for it to expand over the years and the meetings between the two clubs have been really positive, and I believe it is a win win for both clubs.”
Moore’s Toby Macormac, who also sits on the board at Warrington said: “The expansion plans are the key which I’ll heading up with Warrington Schoolboys and the teams at Warrington Collegiate.
“We are a long established side, formed in 1946 and hope to use our experience to supply quality players going forward.”
Moore play their home games at the Tetley Walker ground on Long Lane, next door to the Collegiate who also provide players from their college league teams.
Meanwhile at junior level there has been further expansion with Warrington Town Juniors taking over Beechfields, to become one of the biggest junior footballing set ups in Warrington.
The link up includes a new ground breaking initiative involving a Community Coaching Scheme, where players as young as four and five will be able to receive FREE coaching on a weekly basis, from qualified coaches within the club. This will hopefully prepare them for playing junior football for Warrington Town for many years to come.
“Junior Wires” will commence on August 3 at Sir Thomas Boteler School 6.00pm – 7.00pm.
It is also planned to set up a re-cycling “Boot Room” at Sir Thomas Boteler. This means parents can bring their kid’s old boots, pick from the re-cycled collection at the “Boot Room.”
Paul Anderson, Junior Football Development manager at Warrington Town Junior Football Club said: “These new initiatives will help to establish Warrington Town as the Junior Team to play for.
“Warrington Town Juniors has been a growing club during its inception some four years ago, when we entered two teams at Under 7 & 8 level for the first time.
A lot of our intake has been at the expense of Beechfield. Many of our players are in what might have previously been their catchment area. Thus it made common sense that both clubs should commence talks about merging teams and facilities for the greater good for the community.
“The Club will be the joint biggest in the Warrington Junior League with 27 Teams.
“It is however, no good being the biggest, if we are not the best, and to this end, it is important that we continue in the way we have done to date, to achieve the best we can for the children, and not for ourselves.
“Beechfield are a Charter Standard Club, and their knowledge will assist us whilst our Application for this Status continues.”
Three senior members of the Beechfield management committee will join the Warrington Town Juniors Committee.
