CASH-STRAPPED Warrington Borough Council is seeking to recruit an Executive Director of Growth on a salary of £143,662 per annum, as it seeks to make additional saving of more than £51m.

The post is being advertised as the council briefed elected members of further proposed cuts as highlighted by Warrington Worldwide. Labour members say the proposed cuts will have no impact on the majority of local residents.

The job advertisement states: “We are seeking an innovative and forward-thinking Executive Director of Growth to join us as Warrington enters an exciting new phase of growth and transformation. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a leading role in shaping the future direction of both the borough and the Council, driving our ambitions for growth, prosperity and high-quality public services. Leading a diverse portfolio, you will champion sustainable growth, secure new opportunities and help create thriving places for residents, businesses and communities.
“Working closely with Elected Members, regional partners and stakeholders, including the Cheshire and Warrington Combined Authority, you will ensure Warrington is well positioned to influence and benefit from regional initiatives, investment and devolution opportunities.
Alongside this, you will contribute significantly to our transformation programme, helping to build a modern, financially sustainable and high-performing council that is equipped to meet future challenges and deliver exceptional outcomes for our stakeholders.

Former Director of Growth Steve Park, who later went on to become interim Chief Executive before being appointed Director of Place, left the council earlier this year to return to the private sector with his own consultancy business.
