Failing school bounces back

A WARRINGTON primary school has been taken out of special measures following an inspection by OFSTED last month.
Inspectors are now happy the school is providing a satisfactory and improving education for its pupils.
Bruche Primary School was placed in special measures in September 2007 when OFSTED inspectors ruled it was failing to provide

pupils with a satisfactory education. Last month’s inspection was the fourth to be carried out by OFSTED since then.
The inspectors say teaching and learning in the foundation stage is now good and by the end of key stage two pupils reach standards in maths, English and science in line with national averages. In fact a growing number of pupils are now exceeding this. The inspectors support the school’s view that this year’s results will rise, particularly in the number of pupils expected to reach above average levels in English and Maths.
Children’s well being and personal development is now good with children being happy to come to school and enjoying their learning.
OFSTED inspectors noted the school benefits from strong and effective leadership by the headteacher and newly appointed deputy who both have the respect of parents, pupils and staff alike.
High morale and good teamwork are now strong features of the school’s ethos and there is a clear commitment to continuous improvement.
Headteacher Lynne Mullen said: “I am very pleased with the results of this inspection and must thank all the staff, parents, pupils and governors for pulling together and improving the school for the better.”
