Creamfields: no major incidents

POLICE have reported no major incidents arising from the two-day Creamfields music festival at Daresbury, near Warrington.
Thousands of fans attended the event on Saturday and Sunday but most had left the area by early afternoon yesterday (Monday).
There were mixed reports of noise problems from local residents. People living in the Higher Walton and Moore areas claimed to hear “loud music” in the early hours of the morning.
But in the Appleton and Hatton areas there were conflicting reports with some people saying the sound of the music was minimal, if audible at all while others said the noise was clearly audible.
The music was also heard in parts of Stockton Heath.
Last year most of the complaints came from Appleton and Hatton.
Details of casualties taken to Warrington Hospital are expected later – but there were reports of one person suffering a broken leg after a fall and another suffering head injuries.
This year’s festival was the third to be held at Daresbury and was the 10th since the first Creamfields event. The first seven were held in Liverpool.
Among the groups appearing were Fatboy Slim, Gossip and Kasabian.
It was the first time the event spanned two days and the first time camping facilities were made available for overnight visitors. Organisers say about 70 per cent of pre-event ticket sales were for overnight stays.
Plans are already being made for another two-day event next year.
