Homes project back before planners

A CONTROVERSIAL waterside housing development which has sparked fierce opposition from nearby residents is to come before planning bosses again.
Warrington borough council’s development control committee has been studying financial offers made by the developer towards the cost of vital community facilities before deciding whether

the scheme can go ahead on the site of the former Beers timber yard in Station Road, Latchford.
Kings Dock Developments have previously offered £300,000 towards the provision of affordable housing or open space, £120,000 towards highway improvements and almost £36,000 for other highways matters.
But although planning officers say this is a fair offer, councillors believe the company is not offering enough.
One assessment is that the contribution for affordable housing or open space alone should be more than £530,000.
Nearby residents have lodged objections and Stockton Heath Parish Council opposes part of the scheme.
The parish council claims the number of units is in excess of outline planning permission and that the building would be visually intrusive and overbearing to the residents of Greenbank Road and Lower Hill Top Road.
Five letters of objection have also been received from neighbours who say the development is out of character and obtrusive and that it would interfere with television and mobile phone signals.
They also complain it would cause lack of privacy and traffic congestion because of the extra cars it would attract.
