WARRINGTON maintained their unbeaten record in division one of the Right Move Abroad Cheshire County League when they drew at home to Birkenhead Park.
Batting first, the town side were able to declare at a formidable 231-7.
The visitors made a good attempt at chasing the runs but in the end fell short at 195-7.
In division two, Grappenhall claimed a six wicket victory at Irby.
The home side struggled against the bowling of Park, 5-54 and their all-out total of 150 was never enough to trouble the Broad Lane side who coasted to 152-4.
In the Meller Braggins Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park raced to an eight wicket victory over Cheshire County Officers at Oughtrington Lane.
The visitors were tumbled out for 80 and Lymm progressed to 82-2.
Stretton declared on 145-9 at home to Pott Shrigley but then found they did not have enough runs on the board as the visitors coasted to 147-2.
Appleton managed to hang on for a draw in a high-scoring match at Sandbach, in the Cheshire Cricket Alliance.
The home side batted first were hammered a formidable 221, despite good bowling by Duane Jones, 3-46 and E Pugh, 3-42.
Appleton batted well in reply but never looked in the hunt. Ricky Clarke top scored with 33 as they scraped the draw on 183-9.
Appleton 2nd drew with Sandbach. The visitors scored 194 all out R Swart took 4-32 and M Ormson 3-41. After tea, Appleton hung on at 127-9 with Swart making 34.
Appleton 3rd were dismissed for a disappointing 68 in reply to Wilmslow Wayfarers’ 165 and Appleton 4th lost at home to Styal.
Glazebury registered their first win of the season against Norbury.
The visitors batted first and were dismissed for 167, Sam Stanier taking 4-46, Dave Acton 2-24 and Gary Dunlop 2-22. Glazebury responded with 168-5, Phil McCue hitting an unbeaten 53, Gary Dunlop 39 and Dave Mason 32.
Glazebury 2nd travelled to Audlem where they suffered a massive 155-run defeat.
The home side batted first and hammered 199-6 declared. A below-strength Glazebury were tumbled out for 44, with only Wayne Hargreaves, 13, reaching double figures.
At Rylands, the home side beat Ellesmere Port by 89 runs. Rylands batted first and scored 181 all out, Steve Malone making 57. Ellesmere Port were then dismissed for 92 with Richard Buck taking 5-18.
Rylands 2nd also recorded a good win, dismissing Haslington for 55 and then hitting off the runs for the loss of four wickets. For Rylands, Sujith took 5-23 and Bond Bateman 3-20.
Women’s Cricket
Appleton Tigers crashed out of the Cheshire Women’s Cricket Twenty20 cup competition when they defeated by Hawarden Park.
It was the first time a first division team had been beaten by a second division side since the main league split into two divisions.
Hawarden Park hade 80-5 and Appleton could only muster 59.
They collapsed once owners Emma Barlow, 22, and Amy Page, 20 had retired.
Crucially the pair were unable to return to the crease as Appleton could not field a full side.
A feature of the game was Danni Oates, of Hawarden who took the season’s first hat-trick in her first-ever competitive game.
