Warrington win again

WARRINGTON maintained their 100 per cent record in division one of the Right
Move Abroad Cheshire County League with a four wicket victory over Timperley.
Richard Batey took 5-31 as Timperley were dismissed for a modest 120 in 46 overs.
Warrington were soon on track for victory with Malcolm Agar hitting 38 and reached
their target in the 38th over for the loss of six wickets.
In division two, Grappenhall went down by 30 runs at Bredbury St Marks , which
leaves them still looking for their first win.
The home side batted first and declared on 168-6. Former Lancashire star Steve
Titchard hit an unbeaten 57 when Grappenhall batted, but he got little support from
the rest of the line-up and the last wicket fell in the with just 130 on the board.
Grappenhall 2nd asked Oulton Park to bat first at Broad Lane and the visitors struggled to get any momentum against an accurate attack.
They took the maximum 55 overs to score 178, leaving Grappenhall only 45 overs to reply. Pick of Grappenhall’s bowlers was Sam Guest with 4-31 from 11 overs but the consistent Seed and Titchard also picked up two wickets each. Grappenhall lost a wicket in the first over but then Dave Nicholson, 42 and Dean Langhorn, 38, took the attack to the bowlers and put on 80 for the second wickets. But when they fell the Grappenhall response fell away and they had to settle for a draw at 124-8.
In the Cheshire Alliance, Appleton raced to an eight wicket victory in a low-scoring game at Offerton. Ed Sygrove took 3-20, Duane Jones 4-21 and Luke Truin 3-23 as Offerton were tumbled out for 69. Then Appleton coasted to 70-2, Richard Clarke hitting 25 and Brian Woods 24 not out.
Appleton 2nd won a low-scoring game at Offerton by nine wickets, dismissing the home side for a paltry 50. Chris Tomlinson took 5-17 and Stuart Bake 5-22.
Appleton replied with 50-1, Steve Reece 21 not out and Colin Grumley 22.
Appleton 4th beat Heaton Mersey Village by 10 wickets.
Glazebury went down by two wickets against Ellesmere Port. Batting first, Glazebury got off to a fine start through openers Gareth Banks, 44 and Gary Dunlop, 55. But after that the visitors’ bowling gained the upper hand and the Hurst Lane side ended up 143 all out. Dave Acton took 5-45 for Glazebury but Ellesmere Port finished on 144-8.
Glazebury 2nd drew at Ellesmere Port where the home side hit a useful 195-7, with Tom Milmine, Sean Cain and Michael Nutkins picking up two wickets each.
Glazebury were hanging on at 123-8 at the close, Phil McCue top scoring with 46.
Rylands travelled to Trinity and won by 10 wickets, dismissing the home side for 90, Sean Malone taking 6-17 and Alan Peters 4-24. Rylands hit off the runs without loss, Phil Knowles finishing on 58 not out and Richard Buck 32 not out.
Women’s cricket
Appleton Tigers won by 44 runs in the opening match of the women’s season in Cheshire.
They defeated Romiley in the preliminary round of the Lovelane Cheshire Women’s Cup.
Appleton batted first and scired 108-6 in 20 overs, Amey Page and debutante Hannah Colquitt both reaching the retirement score of 20.
Jenny Regan took 3-10 and Natalie Lyons conceded only one run in four overs as Romily reached 64-8.
The Tigers now go forward to a quarter final with Chester Boughton Hall Deemons in a repeat of last year’s final.
