Police probe racist attack on mosque

POLICE are investigating an offence of racially aggravated criminal damage at a mosque on Arpley Street in Warrington town centre.
Two men were seen shouting racist abuse and smashing windows at the mosque while people were inside.
There were no injuries arising from the incident but police are treating the matter seriously.
Sergeant Rob Horton, of Warrington Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing Unit said, “Cheshire Police treat racially motivated crimes very seriously.
“Enquiries are still ongoing and we would like to speak to anybody who may have witnessed or can provide any further information with regards to this incident.”
At this stage the police are treating it as an isolated incident but have increased the number of officers patrolling the area to reassure the local community.
Following a number of enquiries, police would like to speak to a man who was seen outside Cromwell Court on Arpley Street, believed to be white, wearing an unzipped hooded top and riding a bicycle around 11.30pm on Monday – the night of the incident.
Police would also like to speak to two other men in connection with the incident. Both are described as white, 16-25 years of age, slim build, and wearing dark hooded tops.
