Warrington race to five wicket victory

WARRINGTON raced to a five wicket victory at home to Heaton Mersey on a day when the bowlers struggled.

The visitors chose to bat first and posted a respectable 230-6 in 50 overs
Ashley Scholes, with 3-31. was the pick of the Warrington bowlers but the visitors were able to prosper later on, moving from 41-4 to 153-5 as the mid-order took advantage of a tiring attack.
Warrington had 90 on the board before losing a wicket thanks to openers Charlie Jones, 51 and Anees Umar, 71 and there were useful knocks from the middle order to reach the target with three overs to spare.
Warrington 2nd went down by 19 runs at Upton.
The home side posted 190 with Rabbi Sava, 3-29, the most successful Warrington bowler.
Warrington were all out for 141 despite a well-struck 60 from Hassan Bukhari and 37 from Raj Soni.
Warrington 3rd, 194, defeated Styal by 16 runs and Warrington 4th won by 14 runs at Weaverham.
Grappenhall won by four runs in a nail-biting finish at Oakmere.
Winning the toss and batting first, Grappenhall were all out for a modest 163.
Jason Batson top-scored with 36 and opener William Fell hit 31. Most of the batting line-up made useful contributions to ensure a reasobale target was set for the home side.
At 105 for two, Oakmere looked odds on winners. But wickets began to fall Alex Perry took 4-13 and Awais Khan 3-33and the home side ended up all out for 159.
Grappenhall 2nd won by four wickets at Winnington Park after dismissing the home side for 124, Zach Tully taking 3-9 and then hitting 40. Travis Scholes hit a lively 69 not out, including three sixes, as Grappers replied with 126-6 in 22 overs.
Lymm Oughtrington Park enjoyed a big win at home to Bowdon Vale after amassing 303-3.
Opener Antonnel Atwell bludgeoned 176 from 110 balls, including 16 fours and 10 sixes and Reuben Roberts hit 40 as the bowlers toiled in the heat.
The visitors fought back to reach 222 which would normally be winning total, Alex Power hitting 107. Atwell followed up his century by taking 4-71 and Roberts took 3-21.
Lymm 2nd won by 20 runs at Westminster Park after hitting 173-9, Altai Syedtop-scoring with 42. The home side finished on 153, Harry Cross taking 4-21.
Appleton racked-up a 71 run victory at Prestbury after batting first and hitting 193. The home side were all out for 122.
Appleton 2nd won by 13 runs at home to Middlewich. Skipper Phil Jackson hit 55 and Michael Cumberland took 3-12.

Glazebury suffered a heavy defeat at Burton after the home side had hit 304-9.
The bowlers stuck to their task after the home side had won the toss and elected to bat. But they got little help from the wicket. Dave Nicholson took 3-73 and Ben Marote 2-79.
Glazebury were bowled out for 116 in just under 27 overs.
Glazebury 2nd won by two wickets hosting Mere Europa who batted first and totalled 153-6.
Glazebury replied with 154-8.
