Former Hollywood costume designer from Four Weddings and Notting Hill brings new national event to Warrington

THE former Hollywood costume designer behind Four Weddings and Notting Hill, John Scott, is bringing a new national event to Warrington in the new year.

A familiar face to millions of viewers as a fashion expert on ITV’s This Morning, John, who has also worked on two James Bond movies, has announced the inaugural Stitch & Bitch retreat – Village Hotel Warrington, 22-23 January 2027.

Unlike a traditional craft workshop, Stitch & Bitch is designed as a social getaway for people who love hand stitching, embroidery and needlework. Guests simply bring along their latest project and spend two days stitching, chatting, relaxing and making new friends alongside fellow enthusiasts from across the UK.
The retreat will feature dedicated Stitch & Social sessions, afternoon teas, evening dining, live entertainment, quizzes, games, question-and-answer sessions with John and a special one-man show reflecting on his
extraordinary career in fashion, television and film. Guests will also have the opportunity to hear behind-the-scenes stories from John’s time working on major Hollywood productions and appearing on national television.
Before becoming a familiar face on television, John spent years working in the film industry on productions including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, two James Bond films and Tomb Raider, before spending more than a decade as a fashion expert on ITV’s This Morning. In recent years, he has become one of the UK’s most recognisable faces in sewing and craft television, building a devoted following through his appearances on specialist television channels, live events and his passion for inspiring others to pick up a needle and thread.
John said: “One of the things I’ve always loved most about stitching is the friendships it creates. People often spend hours stitching at home on their own, so this is a chance to get together, share ideas, have a laugh and enjoy a couple of days surrounded by people who share the same passion. There are no classes, no pressure and no experience required – just bring your stitching and enjoy yourself.”
Organisers hope the retreat will become an annual fixture in Warrington, attracting visitors from across the country and helping showcase the town as a destination for unique events.
The Stitch & Bitch retreat takes place at the Village Hotel Warrington on 22-23 January 2027.
