Wolves savage Wildcats

WARRINGTON Wolves kept the pressure on Wigan at the top of the Super League table as they ran in eleven tries for a 66-12 victory over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
The Wolves over came the early loss of points machine Brett Hodgson with man-of-the-match Chris Bridge in outstanding form coverting a perfect 10 from 10 after Hodgson had slotted over the centre’s opening try which took less than 90 seconds to score.
Bridge then filled in for the missing Hodgson at full-back and was a constant thorn in the Wildcat’s side.
Warrington were 12-0 up in as many minutes as Bridge opened up the Wakefield defence for Ryan Atkins and then converted the extras.
Wakefield staged a brief fightback as Kyle Ancor touched down with Josh Veivers adding the conversion to make it 12-6 on 16 minutes.
But the visitors were their own worst enemy as straight from the kick off they put the ball in touch allowing Richie Myler to burt through some weak tackling with Bridge’s conversion making it 18-6 on 19 minutes.
Warrington failed to take advantage of a great 40-20 from Michael Monaghan when Matt King knocked on with the line at his mercy and it wasn’t until the 36th minute that they were able to find another try when Bridge put Joel Monaghan in at the corner and then landed a superb touchline conversion to make it 24-6 at the break.
The game was as good as over as a contest within five minutes of the re-start when Myler put King over and Bridge landed another great conversion from wide out to make it 30-6.
Five minutes later Louis Anderson scored a great long range effort, preventing Bridge with a much easier effort to make it 36-6 after 50 minutes.
Warrington started to throw the ball around at every opportunity and within a minute of the re-start King broke clear to send Atkins racing away for his second try, which was again goaled by Bridge.
Atkins completed his hat-trick on the hour after being put over by Myler and Bridge converted to make it 48-6.
More good work by Bridge saw Anderson grab his second try which was also converted and four minutes later David Solomona sold an outrageous dummy to send King over for his second try, with Bridge adding the extras to bring up the sixty.
Two minutes later the impressive Bridge burst through to set up Mike Cooper to score, giving Bridge the easiest of conversions to make it a perfect 10 from 10.
But Wakefield surprisingly had the final say in the closing minutes when Semi Tadulala did well on the wing to out pace the Wolves’ defence as Jeremy Smith hacked the ball on to score, with Vievers adding the extras to complete the scoring.

Pictures show Michael Monaghan taking on the Wakefield defence, Chris Bridge who kicked a perfect 10 from 10, try scorer Louis Anderson and Paul Wood get to grips with the Wildcats.
