Lorry fire on M62 caused traffic delays

A lorry fire on the M62 at Warrington last night resulted in lengthy traffic delays for commuters earlier today.

The motorway was still closed in both directions this morning following the incident which took place between junction 8 at Gemini and junction 7 for Bold while fire crews remained at the scene.

As a result there were length delays on Sankey Way and in the Great Sankey area, while knock on effects on the motorway network caused heavy traffic in the Appleton and Stockton heath areas.

All lanes on the M62 westbound are now open.
