WARRINGTON Town started pre-season training on Saturday morning, before manager Paul Carden held a Q&A with club supporters.

Joined by club chairman Toby Macormac, the pair discussed last season, recruitment progress, plans for the next campaign and much more in an open and honest session.

The club’s new away shirt was revealed, while it was the first opportunity for fans to purchase season tickets for the new campaign.

Carden confirmed that six players from last season have returned to the club.

They include Supporters Player of the Year James McCarten, goalkeeper Tony McMillan and striker Ruben Jerome.

Hot prospect Dylan Vassallo and midfielder Sean Williams had already been announced as having signed new contracts, while former Everton youngster Gerard Kinsella is also on the comeback trail from a serious back injury.

A seventh player who featured last year, Adam Carden, is also likely to be involved in the squad and also in a coaching capacity.

So far, the Yellows have announced the signings of strikers Josh Hine (Salford) and Tony Gray (Airbus), as well as midfielder Connor Hughes (Wealdstone).

Of those who ended the season at the club, loanees Evan Gumbs, Mitch Duggan and Samuel Ilesamni have all returned to Tranmere, while another loan player Josh Askew has signed a full time deal at Salford.

Michael Monaghan (Trafford), Lewis Codling (Skelmersdale) and Scott Harries (Lancaster) have all moved on, while the club opted to release Danny Ventre and Steven Gillespie (both Skelmersdale).

Billy Smart has joined Marine and striker Danny Hattersley is moving to Australia.

The club is expected to announce the signing of two defenders this week.
