All the road closures you need to know for Stockton Heath Walking Day

VARIOUS road closures will be in place this Saturday afternoon, July 11th, for the annual Stockton Heath Walking Day, which has been saved following an appeal for support from the community.

Warrington Borough Council has stated that on the occasion of the above-mentioned events, no cart, carriage, motor car, lorry or other vehicle (excepting vehicles taking part in the event, Police, Ambulance and Fire Service vehicles and Mail Carts) and no horses or other animal be allowed to remain in or travel along or over any of the undermentioned streets between the hours of 1:30 pm and 4 pm on Saturday 11th July 2026:

Alexandra Road
Parkgate Road
Grappenhall Road From Sandy Lane to London Road
London Road From Sandy Lane to Ellesmere Road
Ellesmere Road From London Road to Brackley Street
Egerton Street
West Avenue From London Road to Kimberley Drive
Kimberley Drive
Walton Road From London Road to Belvoir Road

Alternative routes will be available for through traffic.

(i) via B5156 Fairfield Road, Ackers Road, A56 Chester Road, A56 Grappenhall Road, and Sandy Lane.
(ii) via Sandy Lane, A56 Grappenhall Road, A56 Chester Road, Ackers Road, Hunts Lane, A50 Knutsford Road, A5061 and Knutsford Road.
(iii) via Belvoir Road, Whitefield Road, Cawdor Street, Orchard Street, Sandy Lane and vice versa.

Bicycles and Tricycles are included in the term “vehicle” and must not be ridden through any of the above streets during the hours specified. Any person willfully acting in contravention of the above order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.
Vehicular access to premises will only be permitted under the guidance of the organisers. Pedestrian and emergency routes will be maintained.

The event had been under threat due to rising costs but following a public appeal by St Thomas’ Church in the village, a number of volunteers have stepped forward to ensure it can continue,
