GCSE students at Helsby High School have turned in their best performance of recent years – with 99.5 per cent achieving at least five A*-G grades and 80 per cent at least five A*-C grades.
They have done themselves, their parents and the school, proud, the school reported today.
Provisional analysis indicates that 80 per cent of students have achieved at least 5 A*-C grades, which is the highest performance in recent years.
Headteacher John Dowler praised students and recognised the contribution made by Helsby’s staff and the students’ families.
He said:  “We are delighted that the hard work of our students has been reflected in the results that they have achieved. There have been many outstanding performances in both achievement and progress.
“A fantastic number of students achieved at the very highest level. Equally pleasing is the number of students who have made excellent progress since joining Helsby High School and have achieved a set of GCSE results beyond expectation.
“I would like to thank our staff for their commitment and dedication, and the students’ families for their support. We would like to wish the class of 2016 well for the future.”
Particular congratulations go to 45 students who achieved at least five A* or A grades, and  22 students who achieved eight or more A* or A grades, in their examinations.
