UPDATED PICTURES : WARRINGTON Town rode their luck with a 1-0 victory away at Farsley which took them back to the top of the league.
A second half strike by full-back Ally Brown on 70 minutes secured Warrington all three points as they bounced back from Tuesday night’s disappointing home defeat to Burscough.
But the home side will be left wondering how they came away from the game with nothing as they hit the woodwork three times and saw Warrington block a number of chances on the line with some last gasp defending.
Farsley striker Paul Walker hit the cross bar with a fre kick on 23 minutes and six minutes later headed on to the bar as a rebound was cleared off the line.
Just before the break young winger Lester managed to block a Farsley effort on the line to keep it 0-0 at half-time.
Warrington lost striker Gillespie through injury as he was clattered by the keeper after an early chance in the second half, to be replaced by Kilheeney. An ambulance was called for Gillespie for a suspected dislocated shoulder.
On 68 minutes Farsley hit the woodwork for a third time as O’Brien hit the upright.
Warrington went upfield and McQuade hit the woodwork before Ally brown broke the deadlock smashing home Scott Metcalfe’s cross.
Chris Gahgan has three efforts blocked in the 80th minute and then in the closing minutes Karl Wills made a point blank save, with Metcalfe then heading off the line.
Then in the fourth minute of stoppage time Kilheeney denied Daly on the line as Warrington came away with all three points.
