Press officer off on a real adventure

ADVENTURE Farm press officer Helen Crowther is living up to her organisation’s name – preparing to embark on a trip along the Great Wall of China in the name of charity.
She will spend six days trekking some of the most challenging and remote parts of the wall to raise money for disabled, ill and disadvantaged children in the North West.
Preparations have so far been going to plan for Helen, who has already raised £1,600 of her intended £2,800 total.
She said: “Everyone has been really generous and it would be great to get help from the local community as well. “I’ve been doing a lot of running and walking in preparation for the trek and I’m going to walk Snowdon to try and get used to the climate.
“I’m really excited about going on trek, but also a bit nervous as well. It will be good to know people are behind me and wishing me well while I’m out there.”
The Adventure Farm, at Millington, near Lymm, has embarked on fundraising events before, but this time wanted to something that will attract more donations.
Helen explained: “There are three other big organisations doing the trek to raise money of the North West kids. The difference with this is Global Adventure Challenges, who organise the whole thing, split all the donation money up at the end so hopefully a larger amount will go to the charity.”
Joining Helen will be Loose Women presenter and Waterloo Road star Denise Welch.
“Apparently as soon as she was asked she said yes, which is more than can said for the people here! I said I would volunteer thinking people would be fighting me for a place, but everyone else seemed to take a step back!
“Denise is hopefully coming to the Adventure Farm in the coming months to meet the children and see the work we do here,” Helen added.
Anyone interested in sponsoring Helen should contact her on 01565 830 053 or by clicking here.
She has until June to collect at least 80 per cent of her sponsorship money for the trek taking place in September.
