WARRINGTON Town midfielder Ben Garrity has signed for Football League side Blackpool on a full-time deal for an undisclosed fee.
Garrity, 22, joined the Yellows at the beginning of last season after he was spotted playing Sunday League football for The Oyster in Liverpool.
He has gone on to become a key player in Paul Carden’s side, scoring 19 goals in 79 appearances, and he is the club’s top goal scorer this season.
Club chairman Toby Macormac said: “It’s a monumental day for the club, with a player gaining Football League status via us for the first time in more than 20 years.
“It’s testament not only to Ben’s hard work, but also that of our manager Paul Carden, who has worked tirelessly to help bring the player on and develop him in to a position where multiple clubs have shown an interest.
“It is a positive that Warrington Town can be seen as a place that young footballers can come and not only impress in the first team, but be developed to an extent that they are then given the chance to become a full-time footballer once again.
“We wish Ben all the very best, and I’m sure everyone connected to the Yellows will watch his progress closely.”
Garrity had turned down moves elsewhere in the summer to remain at Cantilever Park, and was under contract until the end of the season.
He now jumps up four divisions to forge a career as a professional footballer.
Meanwhile, the club also confirmed the departure of versatile defender Tyrone Duffus earlier this week.
