Moore RUFC celebrates its 50th anniversary in November 2018 and would welcome all past players and friends to the club on 17th November for the first team game v Capenhurst with a buffet served before the game at 13:30 and celebrations continuing after the game from 17:00 with presentations, a special happy hour and live music from the Bogtrotters. Hot food will be served around 20:00.
The club was formed in November 1968 when a number of like-minded people met in the Red Lion public house in Moore and agreed to form a rugby club.
The first game was against Warrington Vikings.
After playing away games only for some time the lease of a field was secured on Moss Lane in Moore and an old motorway site hut was obtained and used for changing rooms to enable home games to take place.
Over the years the club has gone from strength to strength and now owns two pitches and a superb clubhouse with great facilities and forms an integral part of the local community.
Thousands of players have worn the black and gold shirts over the 50 years and the club currently runs two senior teams with an exciting new development of a women’s section which is going from strength to strength.
Chairman for the last 11 years Andy Mossop said: “If you have ever played for the club or are simply a friend of the club we would love you to share this proud day with us all”.
