WARRINGTON-based online retailer Computer Planet is celebrating its 10th anniversary reflecting on the future.
The company sells custom designed PCs to customers all over the world, have come a long way but are aware of the struggles facing them and other local online businesses in today’s competitive ecommerce world.
Production manager Andy Barr said: “While we’re managing to hold fairly stable, increasingly international brands with huge budgets are entering the market, it’s difficult to compete against them in terms of marketing spend and price point.”
Ten years of business has taught Mr Barr that where the Kingsland Grange, Woolston firm is able to excel is in deep personalisation and customer service that the bigger brands can’t match.
“The very nature of the products we are delivering is that we are building bespoke computers for every customer, big brands simply can’t match that. Coupled with that we excel at customer service and resolve issues personally within a matter of days, you don’t have to work your way through a series of call centres when you want to speak to us.
“We’ve really had to innovate to keep up. We recently launched a sister brand to match customer’s expectation of having items arrive the very next day. It isn’t necessarily a natural fit for our product, but we’ve taken on board customer’s habits that have been formed through using online retailers like Amazon, so we can offer the same or better level of service”
