MOTORISTS are being warned about traffic congestion on Winwick Road due to an incident on the M62 Junction 9.
The motorway was closed in both directions following reports of a woman in the carriageway.
Emergency services attended and a 42-year-old woman has been taken to hospital.
As a result of the closure congestion built up along the A49 Winwick Road North Bound, tailing back from the motorway junction to Kerfoot St junction (McDonalds Drive Through).
The motorway slip road has now re-opened but traffic was still tailing back on Winwick Road as off 16.20pm
