A WARRINGTON midwife is to plunge 15,000 feet from an aircraft to raise money for the charity Mummy’s Star.
Jonathan Cliffe will freefall at 120 mph, attached to a professional skydiver, on June 18 during Cancer and Pregnancy Awareness Week.
He hopes to raise at least £1,000.
Mummy’s Star, founded in June 2013, is the only UK charity with the aim of “supporting pregnancy through cancer and beyond”
It provides comprehensive, easy to understand information about cancer in pregnancy and offers a wide range of support from an online forum to financial grants that assist women and their families during a time of difficulty.
Jonathan said: “Cancer in pregnancy is rare, but it does happen. Pregnancy and childbirth are often an exciting moment in a woman’s life, however sadly in the lives of some women, this news can be interrupted by the news of a cancer diagnosis.
“Mummy’s Star was specifically set up to offer support to women and their families during this time.”
The charity supports women diagnosed with cancer while they are pregnant and during the 12 months after giving birth.
Jonathan added: “As a midwife,  my primary ambition is to ensure women and their families receive care suited to their individual needs.
“This charity supports women and their families during childbirth specific individual needs.”
