SSE’s Paul Cockcroft, Patrick Neill and Gary Faulkner dig in

A TEAM of staff from Warrington’s Fiddlers Ferry Power Station mucked in to help a local charity with their gardening project.
The four staff members spent a day working alongside beneficiaries at the Walton Lea Partnership, lending a helping hand with everything from painting to clearing land.
Karen Gillooly, fundraiser for The Walton Lea Partnership, said the charity was grateful to the volunteers from the energy company SSE.
“Their help meant that we have managed to clear a large area of land that will now be used for planting by centre users. We have been lucky enough to benefit from SSE’s Be the Difference scheme in the past, it makes a huge difference to us at Walton Lea.”
The Walton Lea Partnership is a charity providing supported employment
to adults with learning difficulties, mental health problems, mobility issues and early onset Alzheimer’s.
They offer work in gardening, woodwork, floristry and conservation work, with some people working one day a week and others Monday to Friday.
Paul Cockcroft, from Fiddlers Ferry, added: “We were delighted to be able to offer our help to Walton Lea Partnership again, it is such a worthwhile cause. The staff and centre users make us feel so welcome
and we can see what a difference our input makes.”
Any local charitable organisation that needs a helping hand, or would like more information about SSE’s Be the Difference scheme should contact Paul Cockcroft at [email protected]
