A PROJECT run by a Warrington-based charity has won recognition from the National Parenting Strategy Team for its work with parents separated from their children.
FamiliesTogether is managed by The Relationships Centre provides support to parents who have limited or no contact with their children.
Jay Koike, of the National Parenting Strategy Team, said: “I was delighted with the progress of the project and to hear the difference you are making.
“We have noted that you have exceeded the levels of service that were agreed in your work programme.”
Marissa Hankinson, spokesperson for The Relationships Centre said: “It is a fact, that thousands of children experience the break up of their families every year, and divorce and separation can be very painful for the family. The FamiliesTogether project allowed us to help both parents to understand the effect on children and how by working together, they can help their children to cope. The Relationships Centre is a charity run by professionals from a wide range of caring disciplines.
It has already won widespread praise for another initiative, the “Talk – Don’t Walk” project, which is designed to discourage children from running away from home.
