CHESHIRE’S Museum of Policing has won the team volunteer award at a prestigious awards evening at county police headquarters.
Curator Peter Wroe was also runner-up in the volunteer of the year award – and Warrington Town Centre Special Constabulary were also runners-up for an award.
The Warrington-based museum has evolved over a number of years, becoming a registered charity in 2006 and was formally accredited by the Arts Council in 2011.
Its team of volunteers have worked thousands of hours to establish a credible collection of exhibits and artefacts which is on show for visitors to enjoy. The team of volunteers carry out a number of functions including visitor co-ordination, exhibit and maintenance, clerical assistance, archiving, researching and financial management.
The museum provides a free visiting service and encourages individuals and groups to join in the policing experience and ensures the history of policing in Cheshire is preserved and available to the public.
