Bippity, Boppity, Boo – this isn’t the Cinderella you once knew! A Cinderella for the dating-app generation is touring the UK in early 2027, calling at Warrington’s Parr Hall on January 14.
Produced by Happy Ending Pantomimes, the production offers a distinctly adult reworking of the traditional fairy tale. Audiences can expect the familiar ingredients of pantomime, including outrageous characters, popular songs with witty rewrites and audience participation. These come combined with a search for the Prince with the biggest balls, bawdy humour and a hard hitting slap to the face of steamy innuendo.
At the centre of the story is Tinderella, a social-media obsessive whose glamorous online persona disguises a rather less successful reality. She has no money, no relationship and little prospect of escaping the life she shares with her formidable stepsisters. Her fortunes appear to change when she encounters not one prince, but two. What follows is a competition involving romance, rivalry and a pair of unusually prominent balls, as Tinderella attempts to decide which royal suitor might provide the happy ending she has been swiping for.
Tinderella has previously been described by Theatre & Tonic as “energised” and “flamboyant”, while QueerGuru called it “a fabulous filthy panto with the right balance of feeling dirty and feeling good”. London Theatre1 praised its “howlingly hilarious word-play”, and one audience member reported that their “face ached with laughter”. Another wet herself with laughter but she wouldn’t let us quote her name.
The producers stress that the production is intended exclusively for the ‘big kids’ of the family. Actual children should be left safely at home, along with anyone expecting the Cinderella story to remain entirely respectable.
Peter Bull, co-producer of Tinderella, said: “Adult pantomime should have all the joy, silliness and campness people love about the traditional pantos they remember seeing as a kid, but this time, we’re telling the story you REALLY want to see.
With its swipe-right heroine, duelling princes and promise that “happy endings are guaranteed”, Tinderella: Two Big Balls, One Happy Ending! will tour the UK from January-March 2027.
