A 19th-minute header from George Waring was enough to secure another home victory for Warrington Rylands as they overcame league newcomers Quorn 1-0.

The visitors from Loughborough made their intentions clear early on, hitting the crossbar and giving Rylands an early scare. It was a warning that Quorn would prove difficult opponents.
However, just ten minutes later, Rylands took the lead. A well-delivered cross found The Blues’ number nine, George Waring, who made no mistake with his header, directing the ball beyond Jake Laban.
Waring thought he had doubled the advantage just before half-time when he found the net after the ball fell to him from a Quorn player. However, the linesman’s flag ruled the goal out for offside.
Rylands were already without Battersby, Regan and Burton, and their injury problems continued when Myles La Bastide was forced off before captain Joe Riley later followed him down the tunnel.
Despite the setbacks, the experience of Dean Furman and the introduction of new signing Billy Whaite helped Rylands maintain their composure.
Quorn pushed hard in search of an equaliser, while Rylands looked dangerous on the break. Both sides created opportunities, but neither could find the decisive second goal.
The Reds may currently sit at the bottom of the table, but their performance showed plenty of quality and they certainly should not be taken lightly. On this showing, it seems unlikely that they will remain there for long.
Rylands now turn their attention to Saturday, when they welcome another newcomer to the NPL Premier Division, Redcar Athletic, to the home of The Blues.
