HUNDREDS of local children are set to benefit from free summer holiday activities and meals in the Warrington area.
Warrington Borough Council is working in partnership with schools, community organisations and local providers to deliver the programme at venues across the area.
Families across Warrington are set to benefit from an exciting programme of free summer activities and nutritious meals as part of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.
Running throughout the school holidays, the scheme offers a wide range of engaging opportunities for children and young people, including sports, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures and enrichment activities, all alongside healthy food provision.
Started in 2021, the HAF programme in Warrington has helped families to ensure they have access to enriching experiences and healthy meals during the school holidays. In the last 2 years alone, a total of 3,234 children and young people have been supported.
The programme is designed to support families during the summer break, ensuring children stay active, social and well-nourished while schools are closed. The team are looking to secure funding for future holiday periods too such as October half term.
Cllr Matt Smith said: “The HAF programme plays a vital role in supporting families during the school holidays. It’s about making sure every child has access to fun activities, social opportunities and healthy meals. We’re proud to be offering such a wide-ranging programme again this summer, helping children stay active and connected while easing pressures on families.”
