Various road and footway closures scheduled for Latchford area

VARIOUS road and footway closures are scheduled to take place in the Latchford area of Warrington starting in August for resurfacing works.

The road closures will take place in the Westy area of Latchford and the footway closures in Latchford West, both starting on August 3rd for up to eight and nine weeks respectively.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway as follows: Bridgewater Avenue for its entire length; From Bridgewater Avenue for 50 metres along the following lengths of road: Brindley Avenue, Worsley Avenue, Brook Avenue, Bowman Avenue, and Mort Avenue.
The Order will be effective from 3rd August 2026 for 8 weeks, between 8:30 am and 5 pm in school holidays and between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm outside of school holidays, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Kingsway South, Richmond Avenue, Whitley Avenue, Barrymore Avenue, Mort Avenue and vice versa. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing.
The Council has also given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce the following:
Prohibition of Driving & Clearway: Entire lengths of road: Maple Grove; Marbury Street; Park Avenue; Part length of road: Cumberland Street from the junction with Grove Street to the junction with Oxford Street; Minerva Close from property No. 25 to No. 31; Slater Street from the junction with Grove Street to the junction with Florence Street; Wilderspool Causeway from the junction with Loushers Lane to The Saracens Head Public House.
The Order will be effective from 3rd August 2026 for 9 weeks, between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be as follows: Cumberland Street via Shrewsbury Street, Oldham Street and Grove Street or via Grove Street and Oxford Street; Maple Grove via Birch Grove, Beech Grove, Park Avenue and vice versa; Marbury Street via Kent Street, New Road, St. Marys Street and vice versa; Park Avenue via St. Marys Street, Shrewsbury Street, Salter Street, Carol Street, Knutsford Road and vice versa; Slater Street via Park Avenue, Knutsford Road, Grove Street and vice versa. The restrictions are required for footway surfacing.
