A Warrington author has launched her first children’s picture book after finally bringing to life a story she first created more than a decade ago while working with young children.

The Dragon with No Teeth, written under the pen name Rachael Honeywell, has been released through her independent publishing imprint, Honeywell Books.
The inspiration behind the story came from a little girl who refused to brush her teeth while Rachael was working in nurseries and babysitting.
“About ten years ago, I was babysitting a little girl who simply wouldn’t brush her teeth. To encourage her, I made up a story about a dragon whose teeth had fallen out. I started sharing the story and acting it out in various nurseries I was working in, and it quickly became popular with the children. Ever since then, it’s been my dream to one day turn it into a real book.”
The story follows a princess who discovers a dragon with no teeth and sets out to help him, while gently teaching children the importance of looking after their teeth.
To bring the story to life, Rachael worked with illustrator Samantha Haycock, whose colourful artwork transformed the long-loved tale into a fully illustrated picture book.
“I’m so happy I found the illustrator that I did. She’s done a wonderful job bringing the story to life, and I’m excited to see what children think of it.”

Rachael has over 20 years’ experience working with children, holds a First Class Honours degree in Early Childhood Studies, and is also a foster parent and school governor.
As part of the launch, she will be attending Party in the Park on the 11th July, where she will be hosting storytelling sessions based on The Dragon with No Teeth alongside fun activities and meeting local families.
The book is aimed at children aged 3-7 and is the first title to be released under Honeywell Books.
Rachael is also offering free storytelling sessions in local educational settings, including a short teaching segment on story structure linked to the Early Learning Goals.
The book is available from today on Amazon for £10. For any enquiries regarding the book please email contact@honeywellbooks.com
