GRAPPENHALL made a strong start in their Cheshire County League game against Davenham at Broad Lane – only to see the match abandoned to the weather.
Opener William Fell hit 62 off 75 balls and Grappers were 125 for two when the rain came. But they had done enough to claim eight points from the game.
Grappenhall 2nd’s game at Heaton Mersey was also called off – this time at a crucial stage.
Grappers had been tumbled out for 93, with openers Cassius Birch, 24 and Sam Trumper, 27 contributing most of the runs.
But the home side were soon in trouble and were 55-8 when the game was abandoned.
Matthew Hardman and Ethan arable-Wright picked-up three wickets each and Grappers salvaged nine points from the match.
Rain ended three of Warrington’s four games – a particular disappointment for the 1st XI who were 301-6 at Stockport when the deluge struck.
Liam Jenkins hit 66, Jonathan Howell 44 not out and Abdul Javed 40 not out. Warrington got a well-deserved 10 points
Warrington 2nd won by nine wickets hosting Port Sunlight who were rolled-over for 50, Swarn Singh Sandhu and Raj Soni taking three wickets each.
Lymm Oughtrington Parks matches were all abandoned ..
The 1st XI were 165 at Barnton, the 2nd XI had reduced Barnton to 127-5 at Oughtrinton Lane and the 3rd XI were 198-4 at Bowdon Vale.
Appleton lost by six wickets at Aston after being bowled for 82 and the 2nd XI game at home was abandoned when Appleton were 110-5 against Chester Boughton Hall.
Appleton 3rd lost by five wickets at home to Brooklands and Appleton 4th lost by seven wickets at Chester County Officers.
Glazebury went down by three wickets at Wistaston Village after batting first and totalling 158.
Main feature of the innings was a blistering 85 from Milan Birch which included seven fours and six sixes. Tom Whitby took 3-34 for Glazebury.
Glazebury 2nd lost by eight wickets at home to Weaverham after being bowled for 34.
