THE popular Spread Eagle pub, at Lymm, has re-opened after a £186,000 refurbishment.
A landmark in the centre of the village with its distinctive white frontage on Eagle Brow, the Spread Eagle has been refreshed from the ground up by brewery JW Lees.
Refurbishment works encompass the snug, taproom, bar and dining areas, with new fixtures, fittings, furniture and décor throughout. The pub’s real fires and multi-room layout have been retained while the courtyard beer garden to the rear provides a sheltered spot for warmer days.
The resulting space strikes a considered balance: contemporary in its presentation yet rooted firmly in the warmth of a traditional village inn.
At the bar, guests will find an outstanding line-up of JW Lees beers, brewed at the Greengate Brewery in Middleton, including Original Lager, Manchester Craft Lager and Stout on keg, alongside Bitter, Manchester Pale Ale and Founders Ale on cask. The rotating guest selection features seasonal ales and small-batch releases from The Boilerhouse microbrewery, complemented by the addition of beer flights.
The Spread Eagle serves a menu of hearty pub food, a Pub Lunch menu served Monday to Friday, midweek deals and traditional Sunday roasts.
Community remains central to the pub’s identity, underpinned by an active programme of events including quiz nights and a function room well used by village groups throughout the year.
General manager Martyn Biggart said: “I’m very pleased with the refurb, the pub feels cosy, welcoming and reflects the character of Lymm Village itself. I’m looking forward to welcoming people back through the doors.”
